Nouri Petrochemical Company | Environmental Monitoring System

Execution Date:2024
Client Name:Private Contractor
Project Overview
The project involved both enhancing the existing software system and deploying the ThingsPod IoT platform, which displays sensor data related to gas detection in furnaces and the outputs from Nouri Petrochemical's flares. This platform allows for the reception of sensor information via the intranet network and presents the data in interactive charts. Unlike the previous software, ThingsPod employs more advanced and secure tools, as well as offering the option for local installation on companies' private servers.
Ronika is a knowledge-based company that creates customized smart products and services using modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, digital twins, and more. Ronika focuses on providing customized software services and developing software infrastructures that collect, process, and display data from sensors and internet-connected devices to meet the needs of Industry 5.0 organizations.
Project Objectives
Nouri Petrochemical Company prioritized this project due to several issues with its existing software system that required improvements and upgrades. In the petrochemical industry, accurate and real-time measurement of gas parameters such as oxygen and carbon monoxide are crucial, as any delays or errors in data can lead to safety hazards or decreased efficiency in production processes. The previous software system, with its basic design and technical issues, failed to meet the necessary requirements for safely and reliably collecting and displaying sensor information.
Additionally, information security is a significant concern for private companies. Therefore, it is important to utilize a secure and reliable platform that can be hosted on private servers for large organizations.
This project involved redesigning and upgrading Nouri Petrochemical Company's software system, which collects and displays sensor information from various parts of the petrochemical plant, including furnaces and flare outputs. The sensors monitor different gas parameters, such as oxygen (O2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and nitrogen oxide (NO). The earlier software system was overly simplistic and had numerous issues, which Ronika addressed by correcting the existing software and deploying the ThingsPod platform as a comprehensive solution for collecting, processing, and displaying data in interactive on-site dashboards.
Key Results and Achievements
Display furnace and flare sensor information on the dashboards
Integrate all sensors’ data into a single software dashboard
Creating alerts when gas parameters exceed standard limits
Hosting the IoT platform on local servers of the organization

Project Implementation
During the implementation of this project, we developed comprehensive solutions for environmental monitoring at Nouri Petrochemical. Our team began by accessing the software code to address existing issues. Through modifications to the code, we enhanced the system's performance, allowing it to process and display data from over 20 gas sensors, including oxygen (O2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and nitrogen oxide (NO).
In addition to fixing the previous software, we integrated the ThingsPod IoT platform into the system, which improved both security and data visualization capabilities. This platform enabled the organization to transmit sensor data in real-time over the intranet network. A key feature of the ThingsPod platform is its ability to create fully customized dashboards. We designed these dashboards to allow managers and operators to easily access different gas parameters and sensor data. Furthermore, by implementing advanced security measures, we provided the capability to define and manage various user roles with appropriate access levels, ensuring that data is accessible only to authorized personnel.
To enhance data security, the ThingsPod platform is installed and hosted on Nouri Petrochemical Company's private server. This ensures that the organization retains full control over its data and protects it from external security threats.
